Yesterday, while on FaceBook I had some hesitation in venting about my experiences at my current job. Today, I remembered that's what I have a blog for. Good thing to because I had some priceless material.
What I Learned From Training Today -- A List By Greenaprils
1. My co-workers, by probably no fault of their own, have an average reading comprehension of a fifth grader. I find this fascinating on many levels.
2. My boss is advocate of negative reinforcement. So much so, she praises someone, she goes completely overboard. Imagine cocker spaniel peeing on the carpet happy.
3. And I'm pretty sure in a former life she was a kindergarten teacher. The lesson was so dumbed down I think the gum under the table learned something.
4. I spent nine hours learing 35 minutes worth of material. Joy.
5. Part of this training included teaching (not reviewing) the metric system.
6. I retained a hell of a lot more from fourth grade science class than I ever imagined. Thanks Mr. Reabe.
7. My seventh grade math teacher was an idoit.
8. When the class is slient and everybody is looking at me, it's time for the white girl to answer the question.
9. I've offically declared a Cold War on the receptionist. The last straw was her telling me that I did my paperwork "all wrong". In my defense, a) I just followed her directions, b) "Wrong" meant that I forgot to write my DOB and SS# down and c) She had copies of my drivers licence and social securtiy card stapled to the form. I'm visioning many installments of the shit she tries to pull. Please stand by.
10. The time and place for upward mobility is NOW! Resume for the open Acitivies Director position will be in my GM's inbox on Monday morning 8am. FTS.

I am a fan of self-deprecating humor. If you ever seen me try to calculate tip on a bill, you'd experience some of the best.
My favorite from FML today:
Today, while reading some chemistry notes I came across the term "solid water". Completely stumped, I asked myself "what the hell is solid water??". Then I heard my little cousin say "ice". I'm a 4th year science major in university. He still checks the closet for monsters. FML
Awesome.

Mid-College I remember taking the Belief-O-Matic Quiz. For fun and little encouragement I decided to take it again. I'm suprised with the results, mostly in the fact that I've been attending Reform services I don't feel very Jewish. That and I need to start hanging out with more Liberal Quakers? My friend Dee will be happy about that.
1. | Liberal Quakers (100%)
2. | Unitarian Universalism (96%)
3. | Reform Judaism (95%)
4. | Neo-Pagan (85%) | |
5. | New Age (83%) | |
6. | Baha'i Faith (81%) | |
7. | Mainline to Liberal Christian Protestants (79%)
8. | Sikhism (74%) | |
9. | Scientology (73%) | |
10. | New Thought (72%) | |

At 10:15pm last night I get a frantic message from my sister. The kind of message that would indicate that someone has passed away. However, I was very asleep and didn't get it until this morning. Luckily nobody passed away....
Apparently, my cousin J eloped with some girl he met in NY. Congrats on that!!! My Aunt is quite beside herself because she knows NOTHING about this woman's family. She found out that the brides brother lived in Lake Tahoe and appealed to my sister to 'find some dirt'.
Well, my sister has actually dated the brother in question and it wasn't pretty. It was down right UGLY. After laughing a good bit and consulting on this dilemma, I thought to myself "What are the odds?"
It is Tahoe though. Everybody knows everybody and then usually ends up sleeping with them. I have to add this to My List of Things I Love/Find Amusing About California: #5 Tahoe. Also, on this list is #81: The lady at Lucky's that called my cracker ass mija.
I am a little confused though. I've been here three days and I already have a suntan. I have spent a total of 20 minutes outside. How is this possible?
Note to Self: I have to figure out how to post links to my page.

We made it to Sunnyvale!!!! There is no sun here, I guess it's been hiding. The living room is disaster and I'm convinced that the entire kitchen needs to be re-organized. And then there is the bathtub...
My honey has lived in this apartment for almost two years. He has never scrubbed the tub. It's just plain gross. He scores quite high on the cleanliness scale. I will have to thank his mother for that. I will over look this one (hopefully not many more) "boy grossness".
I'm pleased that i have had some interest in my doula services here. It looks like my job transfer will work out (hopefully part time) and I can be doula-ing a couple births a month. I was shocked that doulas in this area charge so much. I know this will work in my favor, because right now I'm just looking for experience.

I am reminded of a character on Northern Exposure. Chris (sexy DJ played by John Corbett) insisted that he "lost" two years of his life. Oddly, I feel very similar. I know I did stuff the last nine months, but I'm not sure I have much to show for it. And now I'm closing the chapter on my life here in the Northwest.
As of 11:00am Friday June 12, 2009, I will be leaving Bellingham and finding my way to the San Francisco area. I'm shocked that life has moved so quickly, with nothing more than a whisper and a smile.
I'm excited to renew my life in California. All doors are open. I'm even lucky enough to almost (90% sure) have a job.
The best part is every night I get to sleep next to my honey. I'd never thought I'd be ready. But I am. Very ready.
This is what I love about life. Everyday a new adventure and endless possibilities. I truly hope this trandlates to an overflow of creative juices and many many postings.
PS- I love that the people next to me at the coffee house are on a date. Probably, the first. More to smile about.

Just called on an apartment at Spring Creek Apartments in Bellingham,WA. They are charging $500/per pet non-refundable deposit. This is in addition to the $450 security deposit. Monthly rent is $655. You've got to be kidding me, who can afford this?
The website that searched from wouldn't let me bitch, so I'm doing that here.

Found the new template for my little blog. I'm going to put off cleaning and update it. Yay!! I hope this renews my interest in blogging. I also felt the need for this forum to go in a different direction. I'm not sure what yet. Maybe. it will be a surprise.

The long grey days of the Pacific Northwest march on, all of my senses are anticipating "that change" signaling that summer is on its way. In the meantime, I have rediscovered a longtime passion of crafting. Mostly knitting and crocheting. The weather combined with a ridiculous amount of yarn inherited from my grandmother has me searching for suitable projects. Jackpot was discovered with the "scrap" patterns and the shabby chic look of the finished projects fit well with the very casual dress code of WA. Socks and Birki's are alive and well here people. Currently, have started an scrap afgan and shawl. The shawl has been a challange so far. Its a pretty simple crochet pattern, but my tension is all off and I'm taking a break from a irksome craft hour. Oddly enough, I'm not stressing about my lack of progress. And come to think of it the cluster-stress-on-the-verge-of-being-a-migrane-headache that I've had for the past week is almost gone and thurned into a dull throb behind my right eye. I'm also thinking about changing the format of my blog. I might do that while on vacation in Austin. Hmmmm.....

German authorities are preparing to clear hundreds bombs left from World War II that are strewn under Berlin's busiest airport.
I promise a "real" post later. Oh, had another interview today. At a job I actually want. Yay!!!

Finally. Thinking persons family planning.
It's amazing what our President has accomplished in only a week.
Can't wait to see what else Super Obama can do.
Ok, a little cheesed, my spell check just no-noed Obama's name. That needs to change.

Baby Calls 911 and Gets Dad Arrested
The best part of this story is, of course the comments. I am also wondering what size house this was. If memory serves me correct 500 plants are a hellauv lot. I sure there was something (the smell) that tipped the Mounties (awesome) off.
Still looking for a job. Everyday is up and down. Just trying to keep my sanity and pay what bills I can.
